Cougars make it official

The Prince George Cougars have officially announced the signing of 1996-born forward Carson Bolduc. Bolduc was selected 59th overall in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.

“We are very happy to officially have Carson as a member of our Cougar family,” said assistant general manager and director of player personnel Wade Klippenstein. “Carson was a huge part of Kamloops’ success last year as one of the top Bantam teams in Western Canada.”

Bolduc scored 54 goals and added 44 assists for 98 points with the Kamloops Tier 1 team in 61 regular season games. Bolduc also recorded 40 penalty minutes.

Klippenstein added, “As the top forward in our 2011 draft class we look forward to Carson being an offensive leader for us down the road.”

Bolduc will make his debut on Jan. 1, 2012 when the Cougars play in Kamloops.

Midget Silvertips seek gold

Hockey season is back for the Salmon Arm Honda Midget Silvertips. After earning a silver medal in the Tier 2 Midget Provincials in March, the ‘Tips are back again, going for gold. There are only seven returning regular players to the team so the tryouts and exhibition games were exciting for some, disappointing for others. The ‘Tips earned two ties and a loss in exhibition play and will start league play next weekend. The ‘Tips will also be hosting a Midget Tier 2 tournament starting Oct. 7.
