As Oak Bay’s winter sports begin to wind down for the season, there’s lots on the calendar for spring.

Registration is open through March 11 for Oak Bay youth of all ages to join the Victoria Esquimalt Lacrosse Association. For more information and to register visit: velacrosse.com.

Carnarvon Baseball and Softball welcomes Oak Bay ball players of all ages. For more information and to register visit http://carnarvonballclub.com.

There’s still plenty of hoops action to be had. Oak Bay High’s senior boys hit the hardwood tonight (Friday, Feb. 5), hosting St. Michaels for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. The boys return to the court Saturday, Feb. 6 when Oak Bay hosts Lambrick Park at 2 p.m. The boys are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 9, hosting Claremont at 7:30 p.m.

In the Div. 1 Vancouver Island Soccer League, the Bays United FC men play their last regular season game of the year on Friday, Feb. 5, hosting Nanaimo United FC at 8 p.m. on UVic Turf 2A. In VISL Division 3B play, Bays United FC take on Saanich Fusion FC at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Lochside Turf.

In Premier Division women’s play, the Castaways Highlanders FC face the Vancouver Island Wave at PISE tonight (Friday, Feb. 5) with kick-off at 8 p.m. Come Sunday, Feb. 7, a 4 p.m. tilt puts the Div. 1 Bays United FC against Castaways FC at PISE. In Div. 2 action Sunday, Feb. 7, Bays United FC host Lakehill Reds at Henderson at 10 a.m., while Peninsula hosts the Castaways FC at noon at Blue Heron field.

Rugby fans head to Westhills Stadium Saturday, Feb. 6 when the Americas Rugby Championship pits Canada versus Uruguay. For ticket details visit http://events.rugbycanada.ca.

Here in Oak Bay, Castaway Wanderers Rugby is planning their annual fundraiser at Victoria Golf Club. The Saturday, Feb. 27 event includes a three-course meal with wine, and silent and live auction. Tickets are $125 per person. Visit http://cwrugby.com for details.

Runners wanting a jump-start on the Oak Bay Half-Marathon, Relay, 10K and Kids’ Fun Run have until March 15 for an early registration package. The popular local event takes runners all through Oak Bay with all events starting on Oak Bay Avenue. For more information visit oakbayhalf.com.

Local runners can hit the hills in preparation with the next event in the Bear Mountain Run Series, the Diamond Dash, Saturday, Feb. 13. Designed for runners and walkers of all levels, with 5K and family 1.5K events, charity partners are Santas Anonymous and the BC Cancer Foundation’s Ride to Conquer Cancer.
