The Williams Lake Stampeders are off to the Central Interior Hockey League playoff finals.

The Stamps downed the Quesnel Kangaroos Saturday night in front of a packed house at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex for a two-game sweep of the best-of-three-series and will now face the Terrace River Kings for the CIHL’s coveted playoff championship.

Last Saturday, Williams Lake defeated Quesnel 6-2 on the road for the game-one win, before coming home last night, Feb. 25, and duplicating the same score on home ice for the two-game sweep.

Terrace, meanwhile, swept the Prince Rupert Rampage in two games straight, both in 5-2 victories.

Game one of the CIHL playoff championship goes next Saturday, March 4 in Terrace, before the series shifts home to the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex on March 11 for game two. If needed, game three will be played on Sunday, March 12 in Williams Lake.

The winner of that series will earn a berth to the prestigious Coy Cup Senior Men’s ‘AA’ Provincial Championship, which is being hosted this year in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Puck drops for the two CIHL playoff home games in Williams Lake will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11 and at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, if needed.
