Yet another beautiful clear Black Creek night saw over 50 cars at Saratoga Speedway on Saturday.
The Hornet cars, I.M.C.A Modifieds, Old Time Modified Stock cars and the Bomber cars were all on the card on Saturday, with Novecosky & Associates sponsoring all the fun.
Thirty-three Hornets, 10 I.M.C.A Modifieds, nine Bomber cars and seven Old Time Modified Stock cars filled the pits on Saturday. Heat races on Saturday saw Larry Joyce take home the Old Timer heat, with the reverse going to Kail Beck. The Bomber heat would go to Boston Larson, with the four Hornet heats going to Serina Hintz, which was her first ever win, Gord Plain, Shawn Allen, and Glenn White.
Finally, the two Modified heats saw Jeff May and Travis Stevenson take home the wins. Thirty laps were awarded to the Bomber main which saw a very tight battle between a four car pack of Larson, Darren Larson, Justin Beaulieu and Gilles Cyr. Beaulieu would hold the lead for 18 laps until an altercation dropped him from contention, opening the door for the rest of the pack with Cyr taking the final lead change on lap 23 and holding on from there to take his first main event win of the year.
Twenty laps were given to the Old Timer main event which saw James Campbell dominate the race leading all but five laps to take home the win. Two 25-lap Hornet main events saw Andy Inglis, who was racing for the first time this year in the B division, managed to grab the lead on lap 8 and he would pull away from there, taking home his first win in his first race of the year.
The A main saw Lawrenuk once again dominate the field, jumping out to an early lead and holding on to take his third main event win of the year. Ten cars entered into a very exciting 30-lap Modified main event. Gregg Sagmoen would hold the lead for the first 20 laps, but Travis Stevenson would make his way around Sagmoen as he took advantage of a good restart and he wouldn’t look back from there, holding on to take home his first main event win of the year, and the points lead.
Extra laps…Next weekend, the Crash to Pass cars return to Saratoga accompanied by the Hornet cars, and the Roadrunners. The following weekend, June 13, marks the first appearance of the Dwarf cars at Saratoga this year. These cars are very much like the Old Time Modified Stock cars that were displayed at the Speedway on Saturday, but in a much smaller form. Accompanying them will be the I.M.C.A Modifieds, Hornet cars, Bomber cars and the Motorcycles.
