As many as 1,000 participants are expected to take part in the Giant’s Head Run during the weekend of the Summerland Action Festival. The start line for the race has been changed for this year.

Starting line moved for Giant’s Head Run

The starting line for Summerland's Giant's Head Run is no longer at the old library; it’s been changed to the pool.

There has been a change to this year’s Giant’s Head Run.

The starting line is no longer at the old library; it’s been changed to the pool.

The reasoning behind the change to the starting line is timing, organizers say.

At the old library the people that were at the back of the line would sometimes be a minute or two behind because they would be waiting for other people to start going.

Now competitors’ times will start individually as they pass under the arch at the pool.

It is expected that this years Giant’s Head Run will have at least 800 people, with a possibility that the numbers may increase to 1,000 people.

The run will be on June 4 at 6 p.m. The run has a 5.4-kilometre course and a 10-kilometre course.
