Vernon golfer Brady Stead remains in contention for 2017 status at the halfway mark of the Mackenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada’s Canada Q-School behing held at the Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community in Comox.
Stead fired rounds of 71-70 to sit at 3-under 141 and in a tie for 19th in the field of 118.
Play continued Thursday and wraps up today.
After 72 holes, every player inside the top 40 and ties will earn Mackenzie Tour status for 2017.
Derek Barron from Tacoma, Wash. shot a 6-under 66 on Wednesday to sit at 11-under 131 for the halfway lead, one shot better than Chile’s Hugo Leon.
Stead had the second best score among Canadians in the field. Riley Wheeldon from Comox was tied for fifth after 36 holes at 7-under.
