Storm overcomes Eagles in weekend play

The Sicamous Eagles were sent home Saturday, Nov. 12, after suffering a 5-2 loss to hosts the Kamloops Storm.

The B.C. coastline wasn’t the only thing getting pummelled by a storm over the weekend.

The Sicamous Eagles were sent home to lick their wounds on Saturday, Nov. 12,  after suffering a 5-2 loss to hosts the Kamloops Storm.

Despite Kamloops being the first to light up the board at 14:03 in the first period, the Eagles clearly came out stronger, both out-shooting and out-scoring the Storm. Goals were scored by Jagger Bowles and Connor Buick, with assists going to Brendon White and Matt Reed.

The Storm intensified by the second period, however, and from then on the Eagles could not find the back of their net.

Netminder Kris Drott had another outstanding showing, stopping 34 out of 39 shots on net, and was named second star for the game.

The Eagles will be back on the ice on Nov. 18 when they host the Summerland Steam, and then in Chase on Nov. 19 to face the Heat. On Nov. 25, the Eagles take on hosts the Revelstoke Grizzlies, then they’re back on home ice Nov. 26 to  once again take on the Heat. This game will be a special fundraiser for breast and prostate cancer. The Eagles will be wearing pink jerseys, to be signed and auctioned off afterwards. All proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
