The Williams Lake U15/U16 Storm scooped up a gold medal during the weekend at an indoor soccer tournament in Quesnel.

The team rallied, after two scoreless halves to upend Prince George, 1-0, after Justin Foster and Grady Reid both scored in a shootout and keeper Melkum Pitt gave up just one for the win.

The Storm began the tournament with a 6-0 blanking of Fort St. James Saturday morning. Landon Christensen, Foster (2), Jacob Helminger (2) and Logan Hutchinson tallied in the victory.

Next, on Sunday morning, Williams Lake dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Prince George, with Foster scoring the team’s lone marker on a penalty kick.

With three teams in the round robin the Storm sat second in the standings, behind Prince George, and had to get past Fort St. James again to reach the final.

There, Fort St. James came out strong and opened the scoring on a penalty shot, before Williams Lake answered back with five goals of their own from Foster, Hutchinson, Helminger, Reid and Josh Rhodes.
