Striders out in force

The Kelowna Fresh Air 5-k Walk/Run, 10-k run for women, saw 21 women from Salmon Arm, the majority Shuswap Lady Striders take part

The Kelowna Fresh Air 5-k Walk/Run, 10-k run for women, held recently saw 21 women from Salmon Arm, the majority Shuswap Lady Striders, take part.

Salmon Arm’s Chelsea Kaasa won first overall in the 10-k with an amazing time of 42:23.

The 5-k saw Sandra Kilmartin place first overall with an impressive time of 19:59.

In the 10-k, other local finishers were: Kim Mead, in the 30-34 division, with 57:05; Jong Ae Han, 35-39 category, 53:22; Christine Lutzko, 35-39, 1:02:30; twins Tracey and Leigh Pollard, in the 45-49 group, tied at 58:15; in the same group Tracy Fiebelkorn with 1:02:07 and Ingalise Abbott with 1:09:29; Kathy Yanke, 65-69 group, third place with a time of 1:06:34; Mary Hamilton, first in the 70-plus division.

The 5-k race had 145 participants, and saw Sandra Kilmartin in the 20-24 division win first overall. Other local finishers were: Lynda Nicolson coming third in her 60-64 division with 29:54; Linda Hicks, 55-59, with 31:09; Marlene Roy, 55-59, with 31:44; Paula Lamontagne, 30-34, 34:14; Jos Penner with a first in her 65-69 division with 34:13; same category Alvina Cameron with 35:17; Pam Shaw took first in 70-plus in 37:58; Donna Ford, 55-59, 46:46; June Porritt took third in the 65-69 division in 46:47; and Hope Britton, 40-44, 1:02:17.
