There was a big turnout for the Kootenay regional u14 girls basketball team try-out camp which was Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Stanley Humphries Secondary School in Castlegar.
The coaches in attendance ran the players through several drills and scrimmages before selecting 14 players out of more than 25 that tried out. Players came from throughout the Kootenay region including some from as far away as Greenwood to the east and Sparwood to the west. The 14 will have to survive another try-out camp in Cranbrook on May 5 before making the Kootenay Summer Games team which is coached by Castlegar’s Kim Matson.
