Local baseball action heats up with the Oak Bay’s Junior Premier Mariners hosting cross-town rivals the Victoria Eagles junior premier squad Tuesday at Henderson Park. First pitch for their game will be at 6 p.m.
On the Premier side, Oak Bay’s Victoria Mariners Premier baseball team lace up their cleats against the White Rock Tritons on Saturday, July 4. The games will start at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Henderson ball park. White Rock will head across to Gordon Head for a match-up with the Victoria Eagles Premier squad Sunday, July 5.
The Midget AAA Eagles are in action this week, hosting Cowichan Valley at Lambrick Park for a double-header on Wednesday. The games will start at noon and 3 p.m.
In college-age baseball, the Victoria HarbourCats will be hosting the Wenatchee Apple Sox this coming weekend at Royal Athletic Park. The ‘Cats start at 6:35 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
Coming up, the HarbourCats will also play host to the Langley Blaze Premier boys in exhibition play June 30. First pitch will be 6:35 p.m.
One local cricket game is on the calendar for the Victoria and District Cricket League this week, when United will host Metchosin for their 12:30 p.m. start Saturday at Beacon Hill Park.
The Sailors Field Hockey Club is also hosting drop-in sessions all summer long at the University of Victoria turf field.
Anyone 14 years of age or older is welcome to come try out field hockey with some of Victoria’s best coaches and players. Drop-ins cost $5 per session for 90 minutes of skills and drills.
