Summer struggles for Clapp as McKenzie Tour continues

Chilliwack's Brad Clapp missed the cut at the Syncrude Oil Country Championship in Edmonton, continuing a mid-season swoon.

Brad Clapp faltered badly at the latest McKenzie PGA Tour Canada stop, missing the cut at the Oil Country Championship.

The tournament was played last weekend at the Glendale Golf and Country Club in Glendale, AB. Clapp shot matching 74’s in rounds one and two to miss the cut-line by eight strokes.

The line was set at four under.

The Chilliwack Golf Club instructor’s opening round included five bogeys and left him in a deep hole heading into round two, where he started off with a birdie but was torpedoed by double bogeys on the fourth and 17th holes.

Clapp’s driving accuracy dipped noticeably from day one (53.85 per cent) to day two (23.08 per cent) as he struggled to hit the fairway.

Clapp is right back in action this weekend, tackling the ATB Financial Classic at Calgary’s Country Hills Golf Club.
