The Sun Dial Lighting Canadians split a Midget baseball twinbill with Salmon Arm, winning 19-2 after losing 8-6.

After recording a season-low three hits in the opener, the Canadians exploded in Game 2 with Kristian Currie, Shelby Hartwig and Tyler Lacktin- Doyle each driving in three runs.

Daniel Eustache rapped a two-run triple, while deluxe defence and powerful pitching from Hartwig and Doyle held Salmon Arm to just four hits.

Brendan Zupp and Rodger Sewell supplied stellar pitching in the opener, while Currie knocked in two runs and walked once.

The Vernon Hi-Pro Canadians blasted the West Kelowna Blue Jays 15-1 in Pee Wee interlock action at Creekside Park.

Dakota Becker, Alyssa Racine, Kohl Cherkowski and Ryan Gamage went to the mound for the Canadians with Racine striking out four and adding a double and two-run triple on offence. Gamage and Brayden Beacom scored on Racine’s three-bagger.

Landen Harison singled and smacked a two-run triple, scoring Eric Foufoulas and Cherkowski. Gamage doubled in Harison, who earlier in the game, swiped second, third and home.

Becker jumpstarted the offence with an RBI-triple in the first inning.

In House Pee Wee play, the Interior Utility Management Yellow Jackets outlasted the Ironman Directional Drilling Devils 9-8 in extra innings at Creekside.

Izaac Lowe started things off with a triple for the Jackets, while Hayden Lewis of the Devils delivered a double in the bottom of the first.

Gamage drilled a home run in the third and smashed a triple in the fourth to spark the Devils.

Calvin Blaeser retired the Devils in order in the eighth inning. Foufoulas doubled for the Jackets.

The Vernon Cold Stone Creamery Canadians dusted off Kelowna 17-7 after tying them 12-12 in a Bantam doubleheader at Marshall Field.

Landon Currie, Noah Foufoulas and Greg Geistinger all stroked doubles as the C’s took the second game. Ethan Huizinga hit safely and then scored on a series of errors, later adding another single and swiping home. Ethan Sawka and Huizinga both sparkled on the mound.

In the opener, Currie nailed a double to score Sawka to make it 12-9 Kelowna. Foufoulas then swiped home and Currie and Hayden Vardon both walked in for the tying runs.

Tony Campen doubled to centre, bringing in Adam Sacht and Geistlinger in the first inning. Jacob Soucy mowed down four batters over two innings with solid catching from Foufoulas.

Kyle Ciurka replaced Soucy and struck out a pair in the third before hitting a single, going to second on an error and scoring on an overthrow. Vardon swiped home in the same inning. Geistlinger belted a double to score Huiznga in the fourth.

In Mosquito play, the Best Western Lodge Red Sox outlasted Morgan’s Glass Lightning 12-11 at Lakeview Park.

Sawyer Bliss and Sapien Joe pitched for the Sox, while Seiji Bott and Max Turnbull were on the hill for the Bolts. Tye Gorge of the Bolts tried catcher for the first time and appears to be a natural.

Cohl Larsen and Ryan Vandesande supplied clutch hits for the Sox, while Derek Fenwick was hot at the plate for the Lightning.

The Pickles and Tigers bad a blast in Tadpole play at Beairsto School with Hunter Goodwater making an amazing doubleplay and Cooper Hanson diving to snap a line drive for the Tigers.

The Pickles’ defence was led by Shirelle Nickoli and Caleb Johnson.

Griffin Morrier and Gabe Jones of the Pickles and Nicole Lakey, Jared Eddy and Curtis Hartland of the Tigers held big bats.
