Quarterback Cam Bedore threw a pair of long touchdown passes and Alex Bradley added two majors along the ground as the Okanagan Sun scored convincing 47-16 win over the Vancouver Island Raiders in B.C. Football Conference semifinal action Sunday at the Apple Bowl.
The win sends the Sun to their first conference final, also known as the Cullen Cup, in four seasons.
Bedore, the third-year pivot out of Abbotsford, connected on TD passes with Thomas Huber (51 yards) and Lerone Robinson (74 yards) in the first half, while Bradley scored from three yards out as the Sun bolted out to an early 20-1 lead.
Bradley scored his second major of the game on a 69-yard run in the second quarter to pace the Sun to a 30-8 half time advantage.
Dillon Fortune, on a 61-yard run, and Elias Rodriquez, with a fumble recovery in the end zone, scored the other majors for the Sun who have won nine straight games and appear to be getting stronger by the week.
“Phenomenal,” head coach Shane Beatty said of the Sun’s performance. “They came out and executed the game plan in all three phases. We just played fast and physical, we got to play everybody. When Cam threw those two passes to Thomas and Lerone, it was a wrap.
The Sun will host the Langley Rams Sunday in the BCFC final the Apple Bowl. Kick off is 1 p.m.
Th Sun won two of three meetings against the Rams during the regular season.
