The Sun Valley Source for Sports Bantam Tier 2 Vipers went 2-for-4 at the Kelowna Invitational Hockey Tournament.
After an 8-6 Friday loss to Kelowna, the Snakes posted a pair of wins Saturday, grounding Calgary 8-4 and icing North Shore Winter Club Hawks 8-5.
Corbin Hanson pocketed 4+1 against Calgary, while Nicholas Teale (2), Lincoln Connor, and Lee Christensen rounded out the offence.
In the matinee game versus North Shore, Christensen counted a deuce, while singles went to Teale, Hanson, Lucas Wood, Eric Noren, Trevor Kennedy, and Braeden McAmmond.
West Kelowna edged Vernon 4-3 in a semifinal shootout Sunday. Drew Mackenzie, Noren and Christensen had the Viper goals.
“I like what the team did this weekend, but we still have lots of work to do” said Vernon coach Brad Teale.
The Fix Auto Bantam Tier 3 Vipers tied host Kamloops Blazers 4-4 Saturday afternoon.
Vernon’s offence came from Gavin Fleck, Cory Lazar, Ben Imrich and Ben Reinhardt. Jadon Foster chipped in with a couple of helpers, while thegoaltending was split between Aiden Spraggs and Jordan Foster.
Coach Keith Green was pleased with his team’s effort and determination.
The Midget Female Thompson Okanagan Lakers lost twice and tied once in a weekend series with the Great Vancouver Comets in Surrey.
Jenna Fletcher (Vernon) had both goals as the Lakers tied the Comets 2-2 Sunday.
The Lakers lost 4-0 Saturday and 2-0 Friday.
The Thompson Okanagan hosts the Northern Capitals of Prince George in a three-game series starting Friday (5:45 p.m.) at Priest Valley Arena.
Game 2 goes Saturday at 1:45 p.m. at Kal Tire Place with a third game Sunday at 11 a.m. at PV.
The Watkin Motors Mustangs ambushed Kelowna 9-1 in Pee Wee Tier 2 league play Saturday at Civic Arena.
Jarred Feist pulled the hat trick, while Zackary Funk had a deuce and singles came from Jace Weir, Emma Elders, Ronac Chauhan and Jacob Boden.
