Super golf from super seniors

The weather was very hot but everyone enjoyed their day golfing which was followed by an Egg-Head trivia quiz and a great lunch.

More than 50 senior ladies took to the greens and fairways at the Vernon Golf Club July 15 for the 2014 Senior, Super-Senior and Grandmother tournament.

Prizes were given to the winners:

Senior Lady: Janet Green (66 net);

Super-Senior Lady: Karen Hassard (67 net);

Grandmother: Linda Edwards (69 net);

Flight #1 winners: Brenda Samis 80 gross,  Anne Monteith 70 net,  Colleen Barker 72 net;

Flight #2 winners: Linda Jaschke 93 gross, Wilmer Hamer 72 net, Nancy Davies 72 net;

Flight #3 winners: Sue Carder 97 gross, Thelma Trickett 71 net, Melanie Korol 75 net;

Flight #4 winners: Maureen Vincent 100 gross, Cathy Pals 66 net, Betty Pyne 70 net.

Cobbs Bakery were very generous and supplied KP winners with $25 gift certificates. The winners were Karen Kindrachuk, Sharon Noble, Maureen Vincent and Fay Arbuckle.

n Conner Kozak of the Vernon Golf Club fired a final round 1-under 70 to finish in a tie for 24th at the 112th B.C. Men’s Amateur Golf Championship at the Seymour Club in North Vancouver.

Kozak ended up at 15-over for the 72 holes with rounds of 77, 78, 74 and 70.

Three other Vernon golfers missed the 36-hole cut, which was 11-over 155. Jarrett McNeal of Spallumcheen opened with a 15-over 86 but rebounded nicely in round two with a 2-over 73 to finish at 17-over 159, one shot better than Matthew Kreutz of the Vernon Golf Club.

Kreutz had rounds of 82-78 to finish at 18-over 160. Matt McEachran-Law of the Vernon club shot 78-85 to finish at +21.
