A handful of local girls fastpitch teams begin their quest for national titles this week.
A pair of White Rock U18 midget teams – the Renegades ‘96 and the defending champion ‘95s – as well as the Surrey Storm ‘95 squad leave this week for Charlottetown, P.E.I., where they’ll compete in the national tournament that begins Monday, Aug. 12.
At the U16 level, the Surrey Storm ‘97 and ‘98 teams, as well as the Renegades ‘97, are also in P.E.I. this week, for their national tournament that began Wednesday and wraps up Sunday.
A fourth team from White Rock – the Renegades ‘99 – are also preparing to play for a Canadian title; they head to Montreal soon for the U14 national jamboree, which is set for Aug. 14-18.
