The KISU swim club held its Albatross Mega Swim fundraiser on Friday at the Penticton Community Centre.
The fundraiser helps keep the cost of competitive swimming accessible to all athletes by helping with operating costs as well as supporting the Angel Fish program, which offers scholarships to swimmers who otherwise would be unable to participate due to financial constraints.
As a way to thank donors, KISU’s youngest swimmers swim as lengthy of a distance as possible in their 45-minute practice time and have their distances recorded. The majority of swimmers attempt and complete a five kilometre swim in under a two-hour time limit and academy swimmers attemped the first-ever 24-hour relay where they worked in teams to complete 100-km of swimming.
