Sylvester’s snipe lifts Sistas by Drywallers

The OTC/Sunterra Sistas shut out Do-it Drywall 1-0 in a North Okanagan Women’s Soccer League Division 2 showdown Thursday night at Marshall Field #1.

Sistas’ keeper Diane Neudorf launched the ball down field to winger Kim Sylvester, who ran down the pitch and cranked one home from outside the 18.

The Sistas (6-1) welcomed back Sharina Zantingh to their roster. The drywallers fell to 6-1.

In Okanagan Valley Men’s 55+ League action, the Summerland Rockets grounded Vernon Kal Tire 2-0 at Shannon Woods Park in West Kelowna.

Andy Burt and Dan Dinsmore scored for Summerland in the second half. Keeper Tom McGill made several big saves and delivered booming 60-yard kicks all night for the shutout.

Striker Ken Rath struck the crossbar once and was robbed by McGill in tight, earning the Rocky Mountain Transport Man of the Match for the tiremen (3-5-1). Honourable mention went to right fullback Gordie Campbell.

The Silver Stars won by default over the shorthanded Westside FC, improving to 7-1-1.

Penticton shaded Winfield 3-2 on two Peter Toth goals.
