T-Birds Williamson earns all-star honours

Langley's Alyssa Williamson named CIS second team all-star after stellar season with UBC

Alyssa Williamson was named a Canadian Interuniversity Sport second team all-star.

She was named to the team on Nov. 6 at the CIS all-Canadian banquet in Toronto.

Toronto is hosting the CIS women’s soccer national championships.

The third-year UBC goalkeeper — who played her youth soccer with Langley FC before joining the Vancouver Whitecaps U18 Elite Girls program and is a R.E. Mountain graduate — was the 2011 Canada West rookie of the year and a second team all-star that same season.

Williamson started eight of the 12 games for the Thunderbirds this past season and went 4-1-3 with five shutouts, a .620 goals against average and a .815 save percentage.

The T-Birds finished second in the Canada West regular season with an 8-1-3 record and advanced to the Canada West Final Four championships, where they finished fourth.
