The Williams Lake Midget Rep Timberwolves — fresh off a trip to West Kelowna and the provincial championships March 16-20 — said they’d like to thank the community for its support.
The team fundraised throughout the last month in an effort to attend the provincial championships.
Despite finishing with an 0-3 record at provincials, the T-wolves said the tournament was a great experience as players saw and played against some of the best hockey players in the province.
“We would like to thank Lisa Williams, tournament co-ordinator and West Kelowna for hosting the provincial championships,” said Marnie Brenner, team manager.
Williams Lake opened its tournament with a tightly-contested loss to Vancouver before dropping games two and three, respectively, to West Kelowna and Greater Trail.
The championship game saw Vancouver — who Williams Lake skated to an 8-6 loss to — drop a hard-fought contest to Penticton.
“Although we did not win any of our three games we made a big impression,” Brenner said. “We were awarded the Fair Play trophy through a unanimous decision by the officials.
“Thank you again to the community of Williams Lake.”
