Tadpole baseball finish strong

Mosquito team to host zones this weekend

The Salmon Arm Minor baseball’s tadpole team wrapped up their season with two games at home at the Elks Park.

The Young Guns tadpole team beat Penticton 8-3 and lost to Kamloops 4-3.

Caleb Gubbels and Wesley Spence were named MVPs for the weekend. Linden Delleman and Brady Scott were named most sportsmanlike.

Salmon Arm’s mosquito team played double-headers in Vernon and West Kelowna over the weekend.

Against Vernon, the mosquito team dominated one game 13-3 and lost another 7-5.

In West Kelowna, Salmon Arm beat Kelowna’s AAA team 14-9 and West Kelowna’s AAA team 7-4. The wins in Kelowna are especially exciting because Salmon Arm is only a AA team.

The Mosquito AA zones tournament will be held at Elks Park on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.

The Salmon Arm team plays the Central Okanagan Minor Baseball Association team at 10 a.m. on Saturday and then the Southern Okanagan Minor Baseball Association Team at 5 p.m.

If one team in the three-team zone tournament loses both of their games on Saturday they are eliminated and the other two teams will advance to provincials.

If necessary there will be a tie-breaker game on Sunday at 10 a.m. to decide who advances to provincials.

Medals will be awarded for first second and third place as well as MVP and most sportsmanlike players for each game.
