After both teams picked up nine points apiece during the first draw of the World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling, Team World forged ahead thanks to a victory and two ties during the second draw on Thursday at the Langley Events Centre.

The duo of Anette Norberg and Sebastian Kraupp defeated Team North America’s Reid Carruthers and Kim Schneider 8-4.

In the other two mixed doubles matches, Team World scored two points in the final end of both matches to pull even.

Team North America’s Wayne Middaugh and Nina Spatola battled to a 7-7 draw against Qingshuang Yue and Tom Brewster. The other draw saw Shawn Rojeski and Marliese Kasner (Team North America) and Thomas Ulsrud and Cissi Ostlund also play to a 7-7 draw.

Team World leads 21-15 through the first two of 11 draws at the four-day curling competition.

In the women’s matches on Thursday morning, the Team Wang rink picked up six points for Team World after edging Team Lank 6-5.

But Team Lawton got those points back for Team North America after defeating the Team Norberg rink 11-3.

Team Muirhead and Team Holland played to a 5-5 draw after the Muirhead rink scored twice in the final end.

The action continues until Sunday.
