Coming out of training camp, Vancouver Stealth’s captain is convinced teamwork can lead the Langley-based team to victory this season.
“I think the goal is simple, we need to make the playoffs. Our principles are hard work, respect and teamwork. We need to stick with those principles and focus on getting better each week,” said #6 Curtis Hodgson.
He was confirmed as captain for his third year running early this week.
“We feel we have a good starting point with how we worked at camp,” Hodgson added.
The Stealth head into 2017 with an upgraded defence after acquiring John Lintz and Peter McFetridge in the off season.
Lintz is a veteran of 99 games and has won three champion’s cups.
Meanwhile, McFetridge has appeared in 110 games and won a champion’s cup in 2009.

Offensively, the team is led by Hodgson’s assistant captains Rhys Duch – who scored 48 goals and 63 assists for 111 points – and Logan Schuss – who scored 29 goals and 57 assists for 86 points.
The 2017 National Lacrosse League season kicks off this weekend for the Stealth, with back-to-back games in Calgary and Colorado this weekend.
In game one, the Stealth visit the Roughnecks inside the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday. Then the team travels to Colorado for Saturday evening play against the Mammoths.
Vancouver opened training camp in late November, where the coaching staff had a major focus on fitness and conditioning.
“We are a talented team and one of the main things we have been working on is how to complement each other’s strengths while building a cohesive team,” Schuss said.
“We are looking forward to starting the season on a positive note,” he added.
The Stealth play their first home game on Saturday, Jan. 14 against Calgary. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre box office, at 604-882-8800, or by visiting Ticket Rocket.co or emailing support@TicketRocket.co.
