Tenacity showed no mercy as the Vernon Women’s Competitive Slo-Pitch League playoffs opened Wednesday night at Kin Park.
The second-place team took out the Competition Exteriors Dynamite 20-8 in five innings before mercying the White House Mortgages Gators 12-1.
Tenacity scored four times in the first inning against the Nitros and had their offence jumpstarted by Melissa Gauthier with a three-run homer and two singles. Lynn Gregoire also supplied two singles and a home run to bring in two runs. Colette Chudyk drove in three runs with a triple and two singles.
Linda Castonguay was 3-for-3 with a grandslam for the Gators. Paige Leavitt went 4-for-4 with one RBI, while Jessica Sinclair produced three hits and two RBI. Shelly Ouellette went 3-for-3 and Greg Barry 2-for-3.
In Game 2 versus the Gators, Tenacity got three singles and two RBI from Lenai Schmidt and three singles and one ribbie from Rickie Leveille. Christine Sherman stroked two singles and a double with one RBI.
Elli Lane and Tiffany Disher each went 2-for-2 for the Gators.
The fourth-place Gators surprised the pennant-winning Ice Cold Pitches 16-1 with Danielle Saddleman driving in three runs with three hits and Iva Weinstein going 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Kate Carter supplied two hits and one ribbie, while Alicia Melnick drove in one run in her lone plate appearance. Winning pitcher Denise Farmer and Kelli Graham each added two hits.
The Dynamite-Ice Cold Pitches game was called due to darkness.
