The Westwood Tennis Club has a question: Tennis anyone?

The club is hosting its first Community Day this Sunday (May 5) at the Arbot Road venue. The club especially wants to try to expose more children and youths to the sport.

“That’s the goal, trying to get kids at the grassroots area so they can really enjoy tennis for the rest of their life,” said Gerald Yung, club pro.

The club has progressive (smaller) nets, junior rackets and even “user-friendly” balls better-suited for kids, said Yung.

The City of Nanaimo’s parks and rec department is partnering with the Westwood club for Community Day, which goes from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

“We’re trying to jointly grow the sport… so people get aware of tennis, they realize the health, the wellness, the fun,” Yung said.
