The Terrace Midget Reps continued their win streak at Tier 3 provincial championships in 100 Mile House yesterday, winning 5 – 0 over North Delta to go 5 and 0 in the tournament. Semi-finals are this evening, with Terrace facing off against South Okanagan.
And the Terrace Bantam Reps finished third at the Bantam Tier 3 provincial tournament in West Kelowna, winning 8 – 3 over Sunshine Coast this morning, coming back after their 3 –2 overtime loss to Dawson Creek in the semi-final last night.
Terrace vs Alberni Valley
From BC Hockey: Alberni Valley opened the scoring yesterday (March 19) morning at the 19:24 of the first period on a goal from Tynan Smith assisted by Noah Fatur. Terrace came back with a marker at the 11:08 mark on a goal from Gianni Cormano assisted by Sam Reinbolt. They pocketed one more at the 10:53 mark on a goal by Conor Watt assisted by Mason Richey and Terrence O’Brien. Alberni Valley came within one on a goal by Noah Fatur assisted by Ezra Paddock. Exciting hockey throughout the first two periods. Great goaltending at both ends. Terrace came out with a quick goal at the 19:40 mark of the third period by Austen McKean assisted by Gregory Kennedy. Alberni Valley kept battling back but couldn’t find the back of the net. Terrace finished off their scoring at the 2:10 mark of the third on a goal from Nicholas Nordstrom assisted by Jayson Kawinsky to advance to the finals with the 4 – 2 win.
Terrace vs. Dawson Creek
From BC Hockey: Both teams came out flying in the semi final game. Each had the strong desire to make it to the final championship game and they didn’t disappoint the fans. Dawson Creek opened the scoring at the 13:13 mark on a goal by Garyn Waldie assisted by Cole London and Brandon Rowley. Terrace came back at the 4:47 mark of the first with a goal from Austen McKean assisted by Jayson Kawinsky. Play was back and forth throughout the game. Dawson Creek got their second goal from Riley Krance assisted by Andrew York in the second period. Terrace came back and tied it at the 12:18 mark of the third on a goal from Sam Reinbolt assisted by Austen McKean and Gianni Cormano. Action back and forth and great goaltending from both teams. At the 5:35 mark of the overtime period Cole Landon scored assisted by Keenan Halverson sending the Dawson Creek team to face Quesnel in the final. Terrace will meet Sunshine Coast. Great entertaining hockey in this semi final game.
In Salmon Arm, the Terrace Female Reps suffered their third loss of provincials to Cranbrook yesterday, falling 4 – 2.
Terrace vs. Cranbrook
From BC Hockey: Terrace started the scoring with a goal from Caitlyn Ray, assisted by Erin Rose and Zoey Bartha at 13:40 of the first period. The teams seemed to be evenly matched, each with their chances to score. Cranbrook got busy in the second period, scoring three goals. Goals came at 16:02 Annah Setter from Kendra Gudjonson and Samantha Scheller, at 14:55 Courtney Donald scored on the power play from Kendra Gudjonson and Alyssa Rundberg and at 02:10 Setter again from Scheller and Gudjonson. The third period was back and forth action with a few penalties but no more goals. With five minutes left in the game the Terrace bench pulled goalie Jessie Pritchett. Terrace’s Myah Bowel, assisted by Deborah Wraight put one in the net at 4:34 to draw within one goal. At 3:19 Pritchett left the goal again in an attempt to tie the game however with 25 seconds left in the game Rundberg scored into the empty Terrace net, assisted by Gudfjonson. Shots on goal were Terrace 31 and Cranbrook 27
Terrace will meet Salmon Arm on the ice today at 2 p.m.
