River Kings goalie Patrick Leal stood on his head in what became a landslide victory

Terrace River Kings conquered the Prince Rupert Rampage 9-1 on Saturday, Nov. 25, chalking up the second victory of the weekend after defeating Kitimat 4-1 on Friday.

The wins launch the River Kings to second place in the CIHL with 11 points and a 5-3-1-0 record. Quesnel is first with 14 points (7-2-0-0) and Williams Lake third at 7 points (3-5-0-1).

Saturday’s game against the Rampage was close early on, as Terrace lead 1-0 in the first period with a goal scored by Rajan Sangha.

The gap widened in the second, with Luke Walker and Ryan Roseboom both landing shots to make it 3-0.

The third period was a landslide as Luke Gordon and Ben Reinbolt both scored early on. The team then scored four more times in the last 10 minutes (Sangha, Roseboom, and two by Steve Cullis).

River Kings goalie Patrick Leal was on his game, stopping some tough shots, and just narrowly missed a shutout.

The Rampage landed one shot at 17 minutes, and the game ended 9-1 for the River Kings.

The victory followed a slightly closer 4-1 win over the Kitimat Ice Demons the night before, Nov. 24.

In that game Luke Gordon and Ryan Roseboom scored in the first period, with the Ice Demons scoring one as well to make it 2-1.

No goals were scored in the second in the third, the River Kings sealed their victory with two more goals, scored by Ben Reinbolt and Corbin Legros to end it 4-1.

The regular season is just over half way done, with four away games and one more home game scheduled for the River Kings in December.

The team hits the road next weekend, Dec. 2-3, to play in Quesnel and Williams Lake and they are back on home ice Dec. 15 to face Kitimat.
