Thalheimer named to B.C. tennis team

Immaculata student only Okanagan player headed to U14 indoor nationals

Kelowna’s Calvin Thalheimer is the lone Okanagan player to be named to Team B.C. for the upcoming U14 Rogers Indoor National tennis championships.

Coached by Kelowna tennis pro Joachim Nierfeld, Thalheimer will compete with the five-member provincial team from April 6 to 12 at Hollyburn Country Club in Vancouver.

He is a member of the local high-performance tennis program currently operating out of Brett Wilson’s Global Fitness Centre and the Okanagan Mission Tennis Club.

This will be Calvin’s second opportunity to represent B.C. as he also competed at nationals in 2014.

Currently ranked No. 6 in B.C. tennis for his age category, Thalheimer is an honours student in Grade 8 at Immaculata Regional High School.

He also volunteers his time in helping to coach the Little Aces Tennis Program at the Rutland YMCA.
