The bantam Thunder hosted their first tournament of the season last weekend, finishing right in the middle of the pack.
The Thunder posted two wins and a loss in the round robin tournament, which was good enough to net them fourth going into the finals, with one point seperating the Thunder from second. A loss in the finals put them at fifth overall at the end of the tournament. The Thunder started out strong in the tournament, winning their first game, on Friday, against Smithers 6-5. They played Dawson Creek Saturday morning, taking that game 7-1. But Westside put a stop to the Thunder’s winning streak Saturday afternoon, beating the Quesnel team 3-1. In the finals Quesnel came up against Terrace who they fought to a very close 5-4 finish.
Prince George, Williams Lake, Fort St. James, Vanderhoof, Smithers, Terrace, Dawson Creek and Westside Bantam hockey teams were in town to take part in the tournament, making the Twin Arena’s a very busy place to be.
Next weekend the Midget Thunder will play host to teams from all around the central interior.
