Three birdies for ladies

chinook cove ladies golf

by Leslie Stirling

Twenty ladies – the” usual suspects” turned up for a round of golf on Tuesday night, Aug. 16.

I had one of my better games of the season, but a couple of bad holes helped to keep me humble.  I was quite excited to get a birdie on Hole #1 but Donna Salle matched that feat and Mel Freeston followed with a birdie on #2 so the three of us split the pot.

Flight winners were Carol Hindle (Flight #1 low gross) with a score of 42; Donna Salle (Flight #1 low net) with a score of 43; Deb Rainer (Flight #2 low gross) with a score of 47; Vicki Hoffer (Flight #2 low net) with a score of 49 and Barb Smith (Flight #3) with a score of 54.

Vicki Hoffer was the big Flight #2 winner.  She picked up three prizes – Barriere Irly Centre for a long drive, Royal LePage for KP on Hole #4 and Ron Wallace Trucking for KP on Hole #6.  Betty Baillie was a multiple winner for Flight #3 with two long drives (Jul’re by Lynda on Hole #2 and Barriere A & W on Hole #9).  Deb Winiski also took two prizes in Flight #3 – Star/Journal for a long putt and Carl’s Market Garden for a KP.  Karen Peterson of Flight #1 took the Stamer Logging KP prize and the AG Foods long drive prize.  The rest of the Holes prizes went to Barb Kavanagh (KP in 3 – Barr K Treats), Cori Walker (long putt – Barriere Massage), Evelyn Lucas (long putt – Station House Restaurant),  Barb Smith (KP – River Adventure), Tanya Desjarlais (long putt – Country Store Antiques), Susan Newberry (long putt – Rainer Custom Cutting), Leslie Stirling (KP – Barb and Carman Smith), Pat Carr (KP in 2 – Val Bella Studio), Joanne Lyle (long putt – Estylo Hair Design), and Deb Rainer (long drive – Bodi Mekanix).

Irene Beeton won the Knight’s Inn prize for using her putter more often than anyone else.   She just smiled – after all a prize is a prize.

Brenda Carl drove into the gully alone on Hole #7 and won the Rest in Peace prize from North Thompson Funeral Services.

During prize presentations we once again asked for prize donations for the Cancer Night on August 30th.  One of the ladies offered her husband and I said that although he was a “prize” we were looking for new ones, not old ones.

I am working at the Fall Fair office this coming week so if you have a prize you would like to donate feel free to drop it off.  You can fill out your entry forms for the fair at the same time.
