On a night the Langley Thunder were supporting the Make A Wish Foundation, the home crowd got their wish granted too: a victory for the home team.
James Rahe scored with 65 seconds remaining to snap a 5-5 tie as the Langley Thunder stunned the Victoria Shamrocks 6-5 in senior A Western Lacrosse Association action at the Langley Events.
Proceeds from the game were in support of the Make A Wish Foundation.
The win improved Langley to 2-9-0 while Victoria fell to 7-4-1.

The Thunder were down 2-0 after one period and after tying the score at two with goals 10 seconds apart from Cole Shafer and Brandon Clelland, Langley gave up a pair of late goals to trail 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Shafer and the Shamrocks’ Cole Pickup traded goals early in the third period and the score remained 5-3 Victoria for much of the period. But Rahe and Clelland struck 25 seconds apart with less than four minutes to go and Rahe then struck for the winner late in regulation.
Clelland and Shafer each had three point games while Rahe, Bryce Brochu and JP Kealey both had a pair of assists.
David Diruscio stopped 30 shots for the victory.
The teams complete the home-and-home series on July 7 in Victoria.
