If you ever wanted to play a round of golf with one of the 2016 Western Canada Champion 100 Mile House Wranglers, now is your chance.
Tickets are still available for the Wranglers Golf Scramble Fundraiser taking place at the 108 Golf Resort on July 16, with registration starting at 8 a.m.
100 Mile House Wranglers president Tom Bachynski says there is still plenty of room and he encourages those wanting to attend to buy their tickets soon.
“Usually people sign up in the final five days before the event. If people sign up sooner though, it will help us organize the event ahead of time.”
The scramble will be the first time nearly all of the Wranglers have officially been in one place since the team was crowned Western Canada Champions, says Bachynski.
“We have about 15-16 players coming out.
“Some are unable to attend due to work or family conflicts, but we will still have most of the team there.”
Bachynski estimates around 60 to 70 golfers will sign up for the event.
The shotgun start will begin at 9 a.m.
The entry fee of $85 includes 18 holes of golf, power cart rental, and a dinner ticket for the ring ceremony later that day.
The ceremony will mark the final celebration of the team’s amazing run in 2015/16, says Bachynski.
“It will probably be a little happy and a little sad at the same time.
“But it’s our opportunity as a community and an organization to thank these boys for what they’ve done and give them something they can hold on to forever.”
The dinner will be held at the 100 Mile Community Hall with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and dinner beginning at 6:30.
Special appearances for the dinner include Hockey BC president Randy Henderson and Kootenay International Junior Hockey League president Bill Ohlhausen.
“It’s going to be a really exciting evening,” says Bachynski.
For those who just wish to attend the dinner, tickets are $55 each. There are more than 200 dinner tickets still available for purchase.
Tickets for both events can be purchased at Central GM and Sears.
All funds will go towards assisting Wranglers’ alumni in career development opportunities.
