North Enderby Timber shelled Peters Tirecraft/Concept Physio 7-1 in North Okanagan Soccer League make-up play Friday night at Marshall Field #4..
Tirecraft played a man down and NET in a game shortened due to a bloody nose. Brodie Couch opened the scoring for NET on a through ball.
The Timber continued to pass the ball around and added goals by Harminder Sandhu on another feed from midfielder Sean Lister. Tyler Loose converted on a rebound before a long-shot deflection ended up an own goal for Tirecraft.
The brief second half saw Sandhu connected on a howitzer from inside the 18 and add an assist to Brent Poulsen, who finished with a hat trick to round off the 11-3-1 NET offence.
Lister supplied a handful of assists and controlled the NET midfield for the On the Roxx Man of the Match. Tirecraft dipped to 2-11-2.
Turn-Key Controls entertain the Revelstoke Stallions tonight (6:00) in a make-up game at Marshall #5.
The Controllers shut down Seasons in the Okanagan Sistas 4-0 in Masters women’s play Friday night at Marshall #5.
Diane Neudorf broke loose several times for the shortstaffed Sistas to threaten the Controllers’ shutout.
Tammy Buick and Wendy Horner were aggressive on outside half for Sistas, while Suzyn August displayed smarts and courage in center mid along with Andrea Zubot.
Bridget Frick and acrobatic Sherry Wiebe held central defence along with Darlene Toews and Lesley Williams on the outside. Wendy Nadeau frustrated the Controllers with her confidence and consistency in net. Michelle Wernicke belted one in from about 25 yards out for the Controllers’ only second-half goal.
Rosters Sports Pub won two straight for the first time this season with a 2-1 victory over the Shuswap Merlot Thursday night at Marshall #5.
Jody Swartz made a dazzling rush up the side and passed it into the middle to Felicia Musa, who found Becky McLennan in front of the net for the tap in and a 1-0 Rosters lead.
The Merlot had trouble getting any shots as speedsters Denise Bateman, Georgina Harmon and Michelle Muholland shut them down with authority.
The Shuswap ladies levelled the score on a penalty shot, but Rosters countered with a textbook cross by Lisa Fogel that found McLennan waiting at the far post for another tap in. McLennan was named Carl’s Jr. Lady of the Match.
Another handball inside the 18 set the scene for Merlot to tie it up, but keeper Karen Benn made an unbelievable diving save to the corner to deny the goal.
Rosters got bold efforts from Peggy Warnes, Jen Funk, Tina Pelleboer and Tori Feser (shaking off the rust).
In Division 2 play Thursday night, the Green Rockets brushed back the Chick Kickers OMG 4-2 at Marshall #4.
Keeper Rachel Cross was sensational for the Rockets, who received goals from Anna Clarke, Sam Audley, Casi Stanley, and Lindsay Smith.
Kim Lewis had a couple of nice breakaways and Shantelle Price was the Rockets’ Energizer Bunny.
Centerline Attack shaded Capri Insurance 4-3 in other Division 2 play.
Celine Conley (2), Jodi Hawthorne and Emily Sapsford handled the Centreline attack with Conley and Kris Ponto sharing goalkeeping duties.
Fans from Austria came to cheer on Centreline with Christine Beham enjoying a marvellous game with her family Phillip and Stephanie on the sidelines.
Dutchie Jenne Huberts pulled the hat trick as Kal Tire grounded Kelowna 7-2 in men’s 50+ action Thursday night at Marshall #3.
Huberts, named the Amsterdam Cafe Man of the Match, also parachuted a feed to Jim McEwen for a gorgeous header.
Roger Irving recorded the first-half shutout and then played up front and scored twice in the final half. Kevin Mitchell picked off a low goal kick by Dwight Folk and scored from 25 yards out.
Johnny Ugyan scored for Kelowna, who got an own goal when Kal Tire defender Rob Parkin put a long cross, intended for Gordie Campbell, in off the far post. The Tiremen are 12-3.
The Silver Stars drew 3-3 with host Winfield at Beasley Field with John Matejka, Wayne Fowler and an own goal providing the offence.
