The Tiremen improved to 10-6, while the Lakers dipped to 8-8 in the Kelowna Tree Brewing Men’s 35+ Soccer League.

Kal Tire sputtered in the early minutes and let crafty Lake Country forward Dave Broadhurst run by a couple defenders for an easy tap-in past keeper Mark Zaino.

About 15 minutes later, Kevin Lynes hit a hard shot at the Lake Country keeper, who gave up a rebound to Mark Budgen for the easy gimme. Budgen looked inspired all night and showed no rust to earn the Monashee Surveying Man of the Match.

Kal Tire controlled play for most of the game and early in the second half, Darren Nobrega hit a shot that Dave Dobernigg neatly deflected in for the winner.

Lake Country had a couple of chances late but Zaino was up to the challenge, leaving no rebounds. Kal Tire had close to 25 shots.

The Tiremen face last-place Company FC Thursday night at Mission #13.

Meanwhile, Dwight Folk bagged a deuce as Kelowna #1 ran over Kal Tire 5-2 at Marshall Field #3 in oldtimers 55+ league play.

JC Buratti, John Pratch and Dave Wharton supplied singles for Kelowna, who improved to 10-3-3.

Ron Krause ran down the left flank and buried a corker for the first Tiremen goal. Chris Odermatt took a sweet feed from Denis Chabot in tight and finished for the 3-2 goal.

Krause was named the Morning Star Man of the Match as Kal Tire, losers of five straight, fell to 5-9-2.

North Country Appraisals Kickers stopped the  Vernon Silver Stars 2-0 at Greater Vernon Athletics Park.

Brad Heuser and Jim Kruiper scored for North Country (12-3-1). The Stars fell to 7-7-2.

Tony Munoz reached the 27-goal mark with a hat trick as Penticton TC United ambushed FC Beasley 6-1 at Mission Sportsfield #10.

Gord McLaren, Nikos Theodosakis and Peter Toth also tallied for Penticton.

Andy Miller scored as Brandt’s Creek bounced the Summerland Rockets 1-0 at Mission #10.

The Pubbers went to 7-6-3, while Summerland dropped to 2-13-1.

The OTC Sistas and Collaborate Wellness battled to a 2-2 tie in Division 2 women’s ac tion Thursday night at Marshall Field.

A penalty kick late in the first half helped the Collaborate crew take the lead despite multiple shots on net by the Sistas.

With the game winding down and the sun sinking below the hills, Amy (Rocket-Boots) Fitchett of Sistas nailed back-to-back goals to level things 2-2.

Keeper Wendy Nadeau and midfielder Taylor Weixl shared the Dairy Queen Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Match for their outstanding efforts.

Sistas are third in the league at 4-5-1, while the Wellness crew is fifth at 2-7-1.

The Rock Stars are first at 6-2-2, followed by Do-Itt-Drywall at 5-2-4 and Sir Winston’s Attack at 4-5-2.
