Titans football program expands

High school football has had a growth spurt at Samuel Robertson Technical school this spring.

High school football has had a growth spurt at SRT this spring.

After several years of fielding just one team, the program has now grown to see teams being offered at three levels. Football players at SRT will now have an opportunity to compete at the Grade 8, junior varsity (9-10) and senior varsity (11-12) level in September.

The number of kids and coaches involved has never been higher, and teacher sponsor Scott Tomlin credits the quality coaching staff that has been assembled with this impressive growth.

The Titans now have a group of committed coaches at all levels who are ready to build the program for years to come.

Head coach Jeff Boyce takes over at the senior level.  He brings with him a wealth of experience at the community level, where he has coached Midget football for years. Boyce, a Maple Ridge resident, has also coached at Terry Fox Secondary in Port Coquitlam.

Joining Boyce at the junior varsity Level will be George Clarke, longtime community coach and former President of the Meadowridge Knights.

At the Grade 8 level, coaches Glen Cote and Rick Pelwecki will introduce the newest Titans to highschool football.
