The U13 Girls Thompson Okanagan FC (TOFC) took on the second-place Mountain United FC in B.C. Premier Soccer League action Sunday afternoon in Rutland. TOFC got off to a hot start five minutes in, when the Mountain United keeper got caught out of position and striker Abigail Taneda launched a shot from 30 yards out, over the head of the keeper and into the back of the net. The scoring continued five minutes later when, after a scramble in front of the net, TOFC left-winger Ava Wright slipped the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 lead. TOFC maintained possession and kept the pressure on for the remainder of the game, playing tight team defence and, in the end, preserved a hard-fought 2-1 victory. TOFC now finds itself in third place in the league, with a record of 4-2-1. TOFC will play a double-header April 30 and May 1 at McDonald Park in Vernon, with both games at 2 p.m.
