Top players gather in Langley for women’s hockey all star game

The South Coast Women's Hockey League played its all star game Saturday.

The South Coast Women’s Hockey League All Star game Saturday brought together players from around the Lower Mainland and even Vancouver Island to the west and Kamloops to the east.

They gathered Feb. 3 at the Langley Events Centre for the fourth annual tilt, and were hosted by the Trinity Western University Titans.

Team Blue edged Team Orange in a 13-round shootout after the two sides played to a 4-4 tie through 60 minutes of regulation time and five minutes of three-on-three overtime.

The league comprised of the Fraser Valley Jets, the South Fraser TNT, the Meadow Ridge Moose, the Richmond Devils, the Island Surge, the North Shore Rebels and the Kamloops Vibe.

Jade Werger (Meadow Ridge Moose) netted a pair of goals for Team Blue, with Kateline Korman (TWU Titans) and Kelsea Trottier (Fraser Valley Jets) adding one each.

Lindsay DiPietro (Jets) led Team Orange with two goals and an assist. Shay Gronnemose (Jets) and C.J. Ashton (TWU Titans) also scored for Team Orange.

Korman and DiPietro were named the top offensive players for their respective teams, while Rachel Szeto (South Fraser TNT) of Team Blue and Kaarina Swinburnson (Richmond Devils) of Team Orange were the top defensive players.
