The Quesnel Lawn Care (QLC) team has had a bit of a slow start to their season and looked to get things back on track against one of the top teams in the Quesnel Curling Sponsor League, Sky-Hi Scaffolding, during Feb. 12 league play.
QLC came out of the gates strong, stealing three in the first end. Sky-Hi would score one in the second, but that would be all they could muster, as QLC would steal points in three straight ends and win the match 6-1.
The Quesnel and District Child Development Centre (CDC) team got a perfect score on their history test as they struck gold against the Barkerville Historic Town and Park squad, blanking them in a 6-0 win.
A matchup between two of the top three teams in the league proved to be a point-for-point battle, as the Billy Barker Casino and Service Electric squads went to work on the ice. With the game tied at five after four ends, Billy Barker cut the power on Service Electric and stole away the game with two in the seventh end to win the match 9-5.
Redz Shedz came out firing in their match against Century 21, stealing four in the first to take a big early lead. Century 21 wouldn’t just roll over and let themselves be foreclosed on, as they battled to get back into the game, cutting the Shedz lead down to one in the sixth end. The Shedz would not be denied, however, as they won the bidding war, scoring three in the seventh end to win the match 8-4.
The standings in the league are:
Service Electric 9-3
Sky-Hi Scaffolding 8-4
Billy Barker Casino 7-5
Barkerville 6-6
CDC 6-6
Century 21 5-7
Redz Shedz 4-8
Quesnel Lawn Care 3-9
