Fraser Valley (Zone 3) has eked out a 9-7 win over Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2) in round robin box lacrosse play.
Lots of back-and-forth play with multiple lead changes left each side tied at seven with fewer than five minutes to play in the final frame.
Jeremy Bosher, for the Okanagan, took a slashing penalty that would prove costly. After appearing to be upset with a non-call, Bosher was given two minutes for a slash, followed by an unsportsmanlike penalty. Fraser Valley would capitalize twice on the penalties en route to their first win.
Bosher was still a little confused about the call after the game.
“I got taken down and got up and slipped a little and it looked like a bad slash, I guess,” he said. “Then, I asked about it and got another penalty.”
Bosher’s Okanagan team will get the rest of the day off, and they’ll play their second game on Saturday morning, while Fraser Valley (1-0) takes on the Kootenays Friday afternoon.
