Close to 60 riders and their mounts from the Kootenays and Okanagan participated in the 14th annual Hot August Hooves Horse Show at the Trail Horseman’s Grounds on the weekend.
Organizer and president Pam Malekow said it was one of the best turnouts in recent years, and the weather was as the event predicted – hot, hot, hot.
Junior and senior riders underwent testing and competed in over 100 different categories in English and Western dressage, jumping, English and Western flat, halter and in-hand disciplines. Judging the talent were head judge Sally Schiller from Spokane, Jump Judge Brandi Saunders, and Trail Judge Janine Issel.
