Trampoline athletes put up good numbers in season opening event

Kelowna club members look for national qualifying score in Burnaby

The trampoline athletes from Okanagan Gymnastics Centre competed in their first competition of the season in Burnaby on the weekend, looking to achieve a qualifying score for Canadian championships at the Aaron Johnson Memorial Cup, the first competition of the season.

Okanagan Gymnastics Centre had six provincial stream athletes and two national stream athletes competing this past weekend.

In the provincial level of competition, Abby McDonald brought home two silver medals for her performance on the double mini trampoline and in the tumbling event. McDonald competed Provincial level 3, 14 and under on Double Mini Trampoline and Provincial level 2, 13 and under in tumbling.

Jaylin Otteson finished with two bronze medals in the Provincial level 2, 13 and under category in both the trampoline event and double mini trampoline event.

Isabel Gremmen competed in her first competition and brought home a bronze medal in the Provincial level 1, 12 and under category on the trampoline.

Janiah Harris also competing in her very first competition earned a bronze medal in Provincial level 1, 12 and under tumbling.

In the Men’s Senior category, Curtis Gerein earned the top spot in trampoline and also in the synchronized trampoline with his partner.
