Trappers down Panthers 5-1

Langley junior B hockey team uses balanced attack in road victory

The Langley Trappers used a balanced attack as five different players found the back of the net in the junior B hockey team’s first-ever road victory.

The Trappers defeated the Port Moody Panthers 5-1 on Saturday at Port Moody Arena.

The win evened Langley’s record to 2-2-0-0 through four games in the Pacific Junior Hockey League.

The Trappers led 1-0 after 20 minutes and 3-0 after two periods.

The Panthers cut the lead to 3-1 early in the third before Langley quickly re-stored the two-goal lead and then iced it with an empty-netter.

Edvin Haskovic led the way with a goal and an assist while Matthew Smoliga, Cobe Dean and Joshua Boelema and Rowan Lougheed.

Brendan Carew made 26 saves with only Daniel Szpakowski managing to beat him.

The Trappers will look for their first two-game win streak when they host the Richmond Sockeyes on Sept. 20 at the George Preston Recreation Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
