TRAX Swim Club swimmers competed in the Snowfest Swim Meet in Kelowna and Swim BC AA Provincial Swim Meet in Chilliwack last month.
TRAX Swim Club was back in the water to start 2017 off at the Annual Snowfest Swim Meet held at Kelowna’s H2O pool. All the TRAX swimmers qualified for finals, including Aby Elwood, Kira Konkin, Kayla Fraser and Tess Markus, while Ian Markus got a gold medal in the 50-metre freestyle and Jackson Konkin won gold in the 400-metre freestyle along with a silver in the 200-metre backstroke events. The meet was a long-course meet, meaning that the 50-metre Olympic pool was used.
Several TRAX Swim Club swimmers participated in the Swim BC AA Provincial Short Course (25-metre pool) Swim Meet in Chilliwack with Sharman Thomas taking the podium for a gold medal in the 200-metre IM and silver medals in the 100- and 200-metre backstroke while setting personal best times in the 200-metre IM, 200-metre breast, 100 and 200-metre backstrokes. Ian Markus swam to personal best times in the 50, 100, 200 and 400-metre freestyle, 200-IM, and 100-metre fly.
Coaches Mike Konkin and Stephanie Braxmeier were extremely pleased with the team’s continuing results and plan on building upon this success the rest of the season.
