Three Chilliwack youngsters tackled Langley’s 16th annual Tri-It Triathlon last weekend.
Jaime Van Schagen and Cassidy Wells competed in the 8-9 year old division, which included 32 girls and 21 boys.
Van Schagen was seventh fastest in the field, taking 17 minutes and 39 seconds to cover a 100 metre swim, 2.3 kilometre bike ride and 1.5km run. Wells was just over a minute behind, finishing 14th overall with a time of 18:52.
Will Van Schagen was second overall in the 10-11 year old group, which included 12 girls and 9 boys. Van Schagen covered a 200m swim in 3:06, a 4.5km bike in 11:44 and a 2.5km run in 11:14 for a toal time of 26:04.
He was eight seconds off the lead.
