The 34th annual Shoreline Orthodontics Comox Valley Tri-K Triathlon will be on May 27.

The event features races for all ages, from teenies to adults.

The teeny division is for children five to seven years. Competitors will swim or flutter board twice across the Sports Centre pool, complete a short bike course and then run on the track. The seven- to nine-year-olds will swim two lengths, ride out Headquarters Road, and then run up the Vanier Secondary driveway and back to the finish line at the track.

The junior division (8-17 years) is broken down as follows:

•8-9 years: 100 metre swim, 5k bike, 1k run;

•10-11 years: 150m swim, 5k bike, 2k run;

•12-17 years: 300m swim, 10k bike, 3k run.

The senior ‘sprint’ category for racers 16 years and older involves a 750m swim (30 lengths), a 20k cycle and 5k run.

The non-timed ‘Just Tri-it’ open division (16+) involves swimming 20 lengths at your leisure, biking 20k, and running or strolling 5k.

There is also an Aqua Bike division, also 16 and older, which is a 750m swim and 20k bike ride.

The race starts in the Sports Centre at 9 a.m.

There are several awards to be won: the Paul Ervin Memorial Trophy (top junior male), John Siemens Memorial (top female), the Al Pullin Trophy (awarded to a school that supports the Tri-K), the Lorne Franks Memorial (top local female and male) and the Mark Adams Memorial (top family team).

Register by May 14. Discounts are available for Triathlon BC members.
