Trio of divers make cut for Canada Games

White Rock Divers' Madeline Wainman, Carolyn MacFarlane and Carlyn McNeely score medals at provincials in Victoria.

A trio of White Rock Divers have qualified for the Canada Games after strong performances at B.C. Summer Provincials in Victoria earlier this month.

Madeline Wainman, Carolyn MacFarlane and Carlyn McNeely all made the Canada Games cut, securing three of four available Team BC spots.

“It’s quite an accomplishment for a small club,” said White Rock Divers head coach Grant Brehaut.

Wainman’s results in Victoria included a gold medal in the women’s open three-metre, silver in the girls’ ‘A’ one-metre platform, and bronze in the women’s open one-metre.

MacFarlane won gold in the girls ‘A’ three-metre event, silver in both the girls ‘A’ platform and the women’s open three-metre, bronze in the girls ‘A’ one-metre and women’s open platform, and was fourth in the women’s open one-metre.

McNeely, meanwhile, won four medals – gold in the girls ‘B’ platform, silver in the girls ‘B’ three-metre and one-metre and bronze in the women’s open three-metre.

The Canada Games are set for Aug. 11-17 in Sherbrooke, Que.
