Three athletes from Woo Kim Surrey Taekwondo won two medals each at a two-day event in Montreal last weekend. All three competed in a Youth Olympic Games Qualifier on Nov. 30, then on the World Championship Team Trials a day later.

Shane Britton won a silver medal in the bantam/featherweight division for 16-17 year-olds in the youth qualifier, then added a gold medal in the bantamweight group in team trials.

Gina Woods took a bronze medal in the female middleweight group in the qualifier, then earned a spot on Team Canada for the world championships with a gold medal in the middleweight division.

The world championships will be held in Taipei, Taiwan in March.

Ethan Jenkins just missed qualifying for the world championships, earning a bronze medal in the flyweight division. A day earlier, he won a silver medal in the fin-fly category in the Youth Olympic Games Qualifier.

Also competing in Montreal was Eric Kalmbach, who fought well but did not place in his first-ever nationals as a black belt.
