The Mission City Tropics Midget C1 hockey team finished off the season in style, winning a playoff banner, a bronze medal in Delta and bringing home another gold from Kelowna.
During two-and-a-half months of playoffs and two tournaments, the Tropics compiled a record of 23 wins, three losses and one tie.
In the Delta tournament the Tropics were on fire, winning all three games and outscoring their opposition 29-8 in the first three games, before meeting the regular season champions from Chilliwack and losing 6-1.
The Tropics didn’t hang their heads, coming back the next day to beat tournament host North Delta 7-3 in the bronze medal game.
By the time the Tropics hit Kelowna they were determined to make up for the missed opportunity in Delta and came out strong, winning all three games and outscoring the opposition 18-5 in round robin play. The Tropics then beat the Kamloops Broncos 4-2, and won the tournament by defeating Prince George 4-1 in the final.
This season, in total, the Tropics won three gold medals at tournaments and won their playoffs.
