Former All-Canadian Preston Tucker showed great leadership and confidence as the UBC Okanagan Heat faced a tough collegiate volleyball road trip last weekend.

“Preston showed excellent maturity and intelligence in a tough battle against the (Capilano) Blues and (Douglas College) Royals,” said Heat head coach Greg Poitras of the BCCAA Player of the Week.

The Vernon product ran a good offence, leading the Heat to a 0.333 kill efficiency against Capilano, with more than half his team’s attacks being kills. Tucker finished the night with seven digs, one ace and one kill. He was counted on the most Saturday against the highly-ranked Royals.

“Preston definitely delivered as 20 Heat points occurred with him at the service line, including five of our 12 aces,” said Poitras. “Even when the tough-serving Douglas squad relentlessly attacked the Heat, Preston was still able to produce quality set after quality set for the hitters from UBC Okanagan to attack and score.”

The Heat are 11-1 and have a bye before hosting Camosun Chargers of Victoria Feb. 4.
